sixteen.

It feels great to be sixteen; I don't think I've totally grasped the idea yet. It's odd to look in the mirror and call myself sixteen, but when I think about it, it brings a small smile to my face. This is the beginning of new things, of new adventures, and new places.

My best friend, Maggie, came up late Friday night. When she walked in, I was still wearing my bright red lipstick that was left over from our Friday performance. We turned on the wii and played mariokart; it just never gets old. It was nice to have just me and her.

On Saturday, we left early for a stop at Maggie's orthodontist, and I tried my first caramel macchiato at starbucks (it was amazing). We drove to downtown Dallas and walked to Buffalo Exchange, a really awesome resale shop. Maggie followed my mom and Alex, and I snapped pictures and admired the people, the old buildings, and the windows of the shops. Next door, was Society Bakery, where we went to get our delicious birthday cupcakes. After, we went to the Northpark mall, which gets even more giant and overwhelming every time, and attempted to buy things. When the sun slipped away, my mom and the others went to the Cheesecake Factory and Maggie and I lagged behind, so we ended up crossing the freeway, (yes, the freeway) with bags and purses in our hands. After eating an extremelydelicious meal, we arrived back home, ate cupcakes and watched Pitch Perfect- a good ending to our shop-filled day.

So here I am, finally sixteen years old. I have been waiting for this year for quite a while, and it's finally here. And although I feel like writing a speech, or something really inspiring, I'll still be the same person. Being sixteen will bring on new challenges and even greater things, but when it all comes down to it, I'll still be me.

love, ryan
